  • Another great year of scouting fun!

    Dear Pack 80 Families,

Summer is winding down, school is starting soon, and we’re gearing up for another great year of scouting fun!

We've got some great activities planned for the fall, starting with our kickoff Pack 80 Rocket Launch event on Wednesday, September 7th at 6pm at Haynes field.  We'd like to invite you, your son, siblings and friends to join us!  Please bring a clean and empty 2 liter bottle to decorate and launch. We will provide tasty treats, but feel free to bring a picnic dinner.

On Saturday, September 10th from 3-5pm we will hold an Information Session for new parents and their sons to learn more about the program and answer any questions they may have. This event will be held at the Memorial Congregational Church, 26 Concord Road in Sudbury. Parents will hear from me and Steve Hauptman, our Pack 80 Cubmaster, while the boys play games with other den and pack leaders.  If you know of families interested in scouting, please invite them to attend and rsvp to me.  We will also be at Haynes Back to School night on Tuesday, September 27th with a table of information and registration materials.  If you know of families interested in joining scouting, please tell them to stop by and talk to us about the program and the benefits from being a Cub Scout.

Our first Pack Meeting will be on Monday, October 3rd at 7pm at the Memorial Congregational Church, featuring special entertainment. Dates of other pack meetings can be found below.

Join the Pack for our Fall Campout at Camp Resolute in Bolton from Saturday, October 22nd to Sunday, October 23rd. This “Taste of Scouting” event is a true scouting experience led by Boy Scouts and other Scout leaders, with activities that will likely include BB shooting, archery, astronomy, fishing, sports, first aid, skits and songs, campfires, s’mores, and sleeping in the woods!

I have attached a Registration Packet.  You can hand them in at the first Pack meeting or at Haynes Back to School Night on Sept 27th, or can send them to me at the address listed in the packet. If your son is not participating in Scouts this year, please email me directly so that I can remove you from this list. We will be asking for volunteer help for different activities throughout the year. We are in particular need of a Den leader for our 1st grade Tiger Den. Please contact me if you know of any 1st grade parents who may be interested.

Finally, we have been selected by the Boy Scouts of America to host a new, national pilot for Kindergarten boys. They will form the “Lion Den”, will have 2 den meetings per month, and attend 2 or 3 pack meetings over the course of the year. If you know of parents of incoming Kindergarteners who may be interested, please have them contact me.

    See you in September!
